Now is an ideal time to make sure you are visible when potential customers search for a tradesperson. Be ready to stand out when the economy recovers!

As an accredited Guild member you are listed on our findacraftsman.com directory. This site is promoted to consumers looking for skilled and approved craftspeople locally. On www.findacraftsman.com the results come from the information on your profile. Therefore it is important your profile is maximised to allow you the best chance of being found. When the client lands on your profile it is also essential the information on there gives them the confidence you are a high-quality business they can trust. 

Fact: Around 25% of visitors to findacraftsman.com are aged under 35, so are likely to be new potential long term customers to your business.

Images, logo and/or videos updated in your Gallery

When a client lands on your profile, having a handful of good quality images is crucial to give the best first impression possible. This is true in the digital world, just as you would if you were planning to meet them face to face. Many studies state that over 50% of a person’s first impression is purely related to the visual impact.

Enter your membership number and password and you will be taken to your Members’ area. Then go to ‘Edit images and videos’ to upload your images. Once done click “View” on the left of the images to review..

Make sure your company information is up to date, contact info, website URL etc

There is nothing more frustrating for a client than spending time looking for a member and then having tried to contact the member, they have not been able to get through. Make sure your company contact details are up to date. Your address, your email, telephone number, website URL and any social media you may use. The contact information you have on here needs to be information you manage regularly too. For example the email address needs to be one which is checked regularly so the customer gets a quick reply.

Can you improve your business description? This needs to be developed to be a bespoke introduction to your company, and a personal touch can be very effective.

After the initial visual impact of your profile they will then start to read  more about you and the business via your ‘Business description. This is your chance to write a strong message about the company, incorporating some of what you do. An example is:

‘We specialise in design and building beautifully detailed properties to support our clients accomplishing their vision. We can offer support for all stages of projects from architectural design to manufacture, build and fitting. To discuss your project in more detail please contact us today and we will be happy to arrange to discuss!’

Does the profile have a web message?

The web message is a short description which is what clients will see when they find you on the search engines such as Google and Bing. This can be a snippet from your business description or something else. An example is:

Are you listed under relevant trade categories?

Within the ‘Edit your listing’ section you can also add trade categories under ‘Your web information’ List yourself under as many relevant trade descriptions as possible. This will help enhance what search terms you are found for when clients search the website.

Do you have customer reviews?

Get as many customer ratings on your listing as possible – they are vital today. Every time you complete a job, hand out one of the prepaid customer feedback questionnaires available to you via the Guild, or ask your customers to go online to www.findacraftsman.com and leave a review on your company’s listing. Customer reviews are a very good way to build immediate trust with a potential customer. It supports all the information we have suggested above and shows you are truly a professional organisation to be trusted! A proud member of the Guild!
