Business Description
Being a third-generation family business, founded in 1946, Cast Iron Welding Services, CIWS, have perfected the art of sympathetic and environmentally conscious re-manufacturing and restoration using a unique welding process called Gas Fusion. Our team are committed and enthusiastic about ensuring this long-practiced technique has a place in manufacturing today, and recognised for its benefits in ensuring quality restoration projects continue.
Our core business was originally industrial but over the years we have increased our involvement in numerous restoration projects. Restoring and celebrating historical Cast Iron landmarks, preserving the workmanship of the past for future generations to admire, is our passion! Resurrecting damaged historical assets from the brink of decay is our forte, repair, restore through to hand painted protective finishes in-keeping with the period and finally careful re-installation. Our unique process of Gas Fusion welding repair takes place at our facility in Leicestershire, and we are known throughout the world in the Marine, Power generation, Heritage, Steam locomotive and Vintage car markets.
Cast Iron has proved to be an incredibly durable material, we want to celebrate that fact, knowing Gas Fusion Welding is more effective and environmentally viable, our tried and tested knowledge has endeavoured to bring exciting projects our way, large-scale projects such as the North Bridge, Edinburgh, and Tower Bridge, London. Heritage Lamp Columns for the streets of Westminster, and St Martin in the Fields, London restored, and decoratively painted. Brighton's The Victoria Fountain beautifully bought back to working order. The Black Country Living Museum, have also embraced our restoration skills re-instating an original Weighbridge Office and a vintage Trolley-Bus Shelter for their site. Urns for the Dorchester and Railings reinstating kerb appeal. Including sympathetically restored rooflines, just snippets of projects we've achieved.
