Clearsands Glassworks is a Devon based stained glass business offering traditional techniques to create commissions, restorations, unique gifts and works of Art.
I like to add depth and detailing using skills and process in painting, silver stain, sandblasting, fusing, slumping and other techniques working with hot glass in the kiln. As well as my traditional stained glass, I work in mixed media sculptural art and like to incorporate various themes and styles, from Art nouveau to steam punk! I Really enjoying working with this amazing medium in mixed media styles, I often like to incorporate wood, metal and other materials to create unique works of Art.

4 January 2024 at 6 PMRepair work to a broken tiffany lamp shade we otherwise feared destined for the bin – but no – Nina has beautifully and imaginatively restored, polished and it looks better than when we first got it. Excellent timeliness and communications. Such a relief to have this sorted and so welcome to find and support local crafts experts.

5 July 2023 at 8 PMAlthough it was only a small repair to a leaded glass panel beside a 1930s front door. Nina was more than happy to come and help me out. It really was a pleasure to meet such a talented craftswoman. Hopefully I’ll be able to use Nina’s talents on a bigger piece in future.

18 December 2022 at 11 AMWe approached Nina to talk about commissioning a stain glass window for an unusual triangular window. We knew we wanted it to celebrate our children, 2 of whom died when little. It had to be perfect and something we would be happy to see on a daily basis but not be gloomy or sad. We decided to chose our children’s birth flowers as the window overlooks our garden. Apart from giving Nina the flowers and the feeling we wanted it to give we left the rest to her. Nina said she’d do 3 initial ideas but as soon as we saw the 1st one we knew it was perfect. Nina spent time with us, met our family including our grandchildren on various visits to us. She listened to us talking about our beloved daughters- Sarah and Hannah and looked at photos of them. Above all Nina was gentle, understanding, kind and so easy to talk to. She explained the processes involved and gave us ideas (such as the stunning grasses along the base of the window). We look at the window so many times a day as we pass and it just sits right in our hearts snd makes us smile. If you considering asking Nina to produce a piece for you, we would say “do it, you won’t be disappointed “. Thank you Nina for everything, your talent is astounding xx

She removed and collected the window, repaired it, replaced broken pieces and re leaded the window. She then brought it back and fitted it. It looks amazing and is good as new. It makes me smile every time I see it. Thank you Nina! I would really recommend her for all your stained glass needs.

15 June 2022 at 5 PMReally pleased with the restoration job Nina did on my 1930’s front door glass. The colour matching was great, all the leadwork was perfect, and now if my dog stands in the right spot on a sunny day, her head looks multicoloured. Thanks Nina!
